Omega Metal Halide Lamp
This product uses blue spectrum which is essential for plants in the vegetative stage! Blue spectrum is important in the vegetative stage to prevent plants from stretching and instead get short dense plants ready for flowering. Not only this, this product helps boost a broader spectrum of light which even includes small amounts of UVB. Use any Omega product and it will not disappoint!

The Omega 600 watt metal halide lamp is a “conversion” lamp meaning that it should be used with a 600 Watt HPS ballast. Metal Halide lamps produce light that is heavy in the blue region compared to a HPS lamp. The Omega MH lamp is no different producing a colour temperature of 6400 kelvin. The colour, together with amazing intensity, make metal halide lamps absolutely great for growing plants in the vegetative stage. Light from MH lamps helps to keep internodes short and encourages shorter, stockier and bushier plants. While MH lamps are great for vegetative growth, they do not produce as much light in the orange/red part of the light spectrum. Orange/red light is what plants respond to best during the flowering / fruiting stage. We therefore recommend that you switch to HPS grow lights as soon as your plants begin to produce flower buds/fruits. Metal Halides still make great supplementary lights during flower, boosting spectrums and keeping height levels down.
How to use the Omega 600 Watt Metal Halide Lamp:
Always hold HID (High Intensity Discharge) grow lamps using a clean cloth, and avoid touching the glass. Screw the lamp into the E40 fitting of your reflector. Make sure that the lamp is screwed in as tightly as possible. If the lamp is not screwed in tightly then arcing can occur between the centre connector of the lamp holder and the centre conductor on the lamp itself. This will melt the solder contact on the lamp and irreparably damage it. Connect your reflector cable to your 600W HPS ballast. The wattage of your ballast MUST match the wattage of the lamp you are using or there will be a high risk of fires or equipment damage. Ensure the lamp is completely clean and free of dirt, grease and finger-prints etc. before switching it on. Please note – This item is designed to be used with HPS ballasts and should NOT be used with a dedicated MH ballast.
Warning: Once the lamp is switched on it runs extremely hot. As with all high pressure sodium and metal halide bulbs it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires. In particular avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion. Always allow plenty of time for the lamp to cool down after switching off before handling.
As with all lamps the light output they produce will decrease with use over time.
You will need a Ballast to ignite the Lamp
